io-consultants offers field trips to BMW’s dynamics centre for TUM students
München - 13.6.2018
io-consultants once again organised a student field trip this week. On Monday, 11 June 2018, 20 logistics enthusiasts visited BMW in Dingolfing, Germany. Since 2013, io-consultants has supported the carmaker in the implementation of its spare parts logistics projects in the Lower Bavaria area and worldwide (see press release).
The excursion was carried out in cooperation with the Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow & Logistics of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as part of its “Planning technical logistics systems” seminar. "The excursion gives students insights into logistics and our day-to-day work as logistics planners," says Christian Schindler, Senior Consultant at io-consultants.
Since the opening of its Munich branch in June 2017, io-consultants has thus been extending its university cooperations in the Bavarian region. Following the presentation of the successfully completed BMW after-sales project and subsequent outlook on the ongoing follow-up project, the group was given a tour of all warehouse areas at the Dynamics Centre, Plant 2.7.
"The course content of the lecture became directly visible in the BMW logistics centre. Through the excursion the theoretical contents were interlinked with the practice and could be applied directly ", says Leonhard Feiner, research assistant at the fml-chair.
Special thanks go to the BMW Group for the opportunity to have a look into their Dynamics Centre with exciting impressions.
