TU Munich students gain insights into the work of logistics consultants
München - 6.4.2018
io-consultants again staged a workshop on warehouse planning at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), on 6 April 2018.
The workshop focussed on a practical case study by io-consultants on the quantitative and qualitative differences between an automatic small parts warehouse and a manual shelf storage system. Supported by the TUM’s Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow & Logistics, a group of master students in mechanical engineering and technical business administration worked on the case study as part of their practical training in logistics.
The students prepared a selection of concepts – under the same conditions and confronted with the same challenges that logistics consultants face – and then presented the results to the participants of the workshop. In a subsequent discussion round, they addressed the different approaches taken, the benefits and drawbacks of the individual systems, and the real life conditions that need to be weighed in.
Since the opening of its Munich office in June 2017, io consultants has been extending its university cooperations in Bavaria, and now looks forward to further joint projects with the TU Munich.
