Opening of new cafeteria for Vocational Education Centre in Schramberg-Sulgen
Heidelberg - 10.9.2018
Consulting and planning company io-consultants has planned the new cafeteria at the Vocational Education Centre in Schramberg-Sulgen, scheduled to open in September 2018.
The centre is undergoing general conversion and expansion work to include a new auditorium, spanning approx. 120 m², and an around 90 m² cafeteria. The cafeteria will cater for 30 to 40 students, offering a hot and cold lunch buffet and snacks throughout the day. At the back of the cafeteria, a regeneration kitchen (approx. 100 m²) accommodates an additional area for cooking fresh meals, a dishwashing zone, delivery and storage space for refrigerated, frozen and non-refrigerated food, and a waste disposal area.
As the lead consultant for the kitchen technology, io-consultants was responsible for service phases 1-8 of the HOAI, the Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers applicable to construction works in Germany. The major challenge of the project was to effectively coordinate the architects, carpenters and kitchen suppliers, and to create a visually appealing space, which was successfully accomplished. The large window fronts have an inviting effect, and on the inside, flexible wooden partitions can be used to hide the serving counters and the open kitchen as required, e.g. during events.
